Music can be like a relationship, there are relatable fallacies that fall in between both. There are thin lines in both love and music that counterparts and artists alike wickedly love to dance on; like an addict to a drug that they know is killing them. A relationship can be a single for a one night stand. An EP, for a few of your risky “sneaky links”… or a completed album… but just because it’s an album doesn’t mean all was roses. In this “revenge tour” of love, you will dive into the perspectives and storyline of a once adamant child who seemed to have let failure groom him into a coldhearted and doubtful adult. “Before You Go’ takes the normalized themes of toxicity and lust and meshes those things with multi-decade influences of melodies and crooning. On tracks like “Endgame” & “Texas 360”, you can hear the descriptive story where heartbreak meets inner solace: and the toxic after-effects of infidelity on tracks like “Shelly” and “Toxique’. This alternative take on R&B showcases what happens when you take modern trap 808s and clash them with 90’s R&B vocal layering. With this project adventuring into the many corners of love and lust, sex isn’t something shied away from with tracks like “Puzzle Piece” and “LMK”. Lank G, a young Artist from D Town, shows his versatility as an artist with this being his debut RnB LP. With him primarily being a “Hip Hop Artist” before, BYG has opened up his penmanship and creative energy to more R&B.
